HouseSigma, the highest-rated real estate app in Canada, is hiring a Product Builder to take user problems from idea to shipped product, on their own. This is a full-time, permanent role with the flexibility to work from anywhere in Canada.
How We Hire
Before anything else about the role, here’s how we think about who fits at HouseSigma. If these don’t resonate with you, this likely isn’t the right fit, regardless of how strong your experience is.
Our North Star Behaviour
Solve problems deeply with ownership, and collaborate to multiply impact.
We think of every challenge at HouseSigma as a stone that needs moving. Each person owns their stones end to end, from understanding the problem, to designing the solution, to shipping it. We don’t rely on handoffs to explain stalled progress. We collaborate as a force multiplier, not a dependency chain.

Our Values
The traits we look for in every teammate, and how we evaluate ourselves:
- Responsibility and extreme accountability: We take end-to-end ownership of our projects and follow through, because taking accountability earns trust and freedom.
- Deep and independent thinking: We use first-principles thinking to go beyond surface-level answers, ask the “why” repeatedly, and reason from those fundamentals to get to the truth.
- Logical and fact-driven judgment: We make decisions based on evidence and clear thinking, not assumptions or gut feel.
- Judgment and courage: We act decisively in ambiguity, using sound judgment and the courage to make and own hard calls.
- Growth mindset and hard-work appreciation: We stay curious, keep improving, and respect the consistent effort required to build something great.
- Direct, transparent, and constructive communication: We communicate clearly, give feedback that helps, and say directly to someone the same thing we would say about them.
- Superstar and dream-team mindset: We set a high bar for individual excellence and collaborate in ways that elevate the whole team.
- High agency and initiative: We step up without waiting to be asked, move quickly, and proactively improve processes and outcomes.
- Passion and craftsmanship: We care deeply about the work, treat our role as a craft, and keep refining quality over time.

This Role: North Star Behaviour Applied to Product
You will own product problems from start to finish: work out what to build, design it, build it with AI coding tools, ship it, and check whether it worked, without handing it off to someone else to design or code. You will work on the HouseSigma app and website, and on the internal and partner-facing tools that sit behind them. You will report to our Director of Product and work closely with our global engineering team, who own the core platform you build on. We are open to people who came up as designers or as product managers, as long as you ship code comfortably today. What matters is that you know your craft properly and you can build.
What “Solve problems deeply with ownership” looks like here
- Own product problems end to end: frame the problem, decide the solution, design it, build it and ship it
- Write and commit code on top of the HouseSigma platform, using AI coding tools as a main part of how you work
- Set the success measures for each feature you own and track them yourself
- Pull and read data (SQL, dashboards) to decide what to build next and whether a change worked
- Talk to users and look at how they use the product to find the next problem worth solving
- Work on problems that touch both sides of the platform, consumers and the realtors who serve them, and keep the two consistent
What “Collaborate to multiply impact” looks like here
- Work with the global engineering team to flag platform needs early and stay within the agreed product layer
- You raise the product bar of the people around you through demoing work, providing feedback and debating problem tickets
- Turn what you learn into things the team can reuse: problem tickets with clear evidence, post-mortems, and the AI workflows and tools you build for yourself, so the next builder starts further ahead
What We’re Looking For
Strong candidates will be able to point to clear evidence of the North Star Behaviour and the HouseSigma values in their past work. Beyond that:
- Craft. Real training in design or product management, from school or from a few years of doing the job. You can explain why you make the calls you make, not only what you did.
- Ships code. Comfortable in a modern web or app codebase, and can show work you have built and put in front of real users. A formal coding background is not required. Coding with AI counts if you can explain and fix what you built.
- AI in daily work. You use AI tools every day for research, design, coding and testing, and can tell when the output is wrong.
- Data and business sense. Comfortable with data, and can reason about metrics and the business side of a decision.
- Ownership. You have owned at least one product problem from idea to launch and taken responsibility for how it turned out.
- Communication. You write clearly, and give and take direct feedback well. The team works across time zones, so clear written communication matters.
- Experience operating in a global, cross-team environment (the HouseSigma team currently resides in North America and China).
Nice to Have
- A path from engineering into design or product, or the other way around
- Some depth in the other craft too: a PM who can prototype UI, or a designer who is at home with metrics
- Experience with marketplaces, consumer apps or data products
- Formal training in design, HCI, product management, business or computer science. No degree required; equivalent practice counts the same.
How We Evaluate
Your resume gets you in the door. Your build gets you the job.
Instead of a traditional interview loop, we ask selected candidates to complete a Builder Challenge: a real problem from HouseSigma’s domain that you analyze, design a solution for, prototype, and present. This is how we identify people who embody our North Star Behaviour in practice, not just in conversation, and how we understand your AI-native mindset and capabilities.
Interview Process
- HR Prescreen
- TestGorilla Assessment
- Hiring Manager interview with Victor, Director of Product. Craft depth and a code walkthrough.
- Builder Challenge (invitation only). Deliverables: a problem ticket, a solution, a working prototype and a short presentation.
- Panel interview with Product and Engineering Management team. Challenge walkthrough, values alignment, mutual fit.
- Final conversation with our CEO.
What You Can Expect from Us
- Shape the product layer of Canada’s leading real estate platform and its AI assistant, owning problems end to end from day one
- Direct partnership with the Director of Product, the Senior Director of Engineering and the CEO
- Health benefits including health, dental, life, virtual health care, and travel coverage
- Remote-friendly work environment: anywhere in Canada
- Highly competitive compensation and generous vacation time
- A team that actually wants you to challenge how things are done
Base salary range: CAD $100,000 to $200,000 (final offer determined based on skills and experience)
